Sanofi and Cigna are responding to the escalating financial and mortality costs of insulin with affordable patient assistance programs – a first in America’s broken drug pricing system.
Beginning June, Sanofi’s Insulins Valyou Savings Program will allow diabetic patients – regardless of income level – to take home 10 boxes of pens and/or 10 mL vials for only $99 per month. This is a significant improvement from when the program first launched last year and only allowed cash-basis patients one 10 mL vial for $99, or $149 for a box of pens.
Express Scripts by Cigna announced its Patient Assurance ProgramSM, which allows eligible diabetics covered by participating plans to pay no more than $25 for a 30-day supply of insulin.
